Your Mindset Shift Starts Now

“It all depends on how we look at things, and not how they are in themselves.” — Carl Jung

One of the most important attributes of successful people is their ability to grow in the face of adversity, rather than shrinking.

There’s nothing easy about undoing years of social conditioning, but it is simple. First, accept that your mindset actually requires a shift. Next, be honest and identify your most intrusive self-limiting beliefs. Replace those pessimistic thoughts with optimistic ones, and finally, find your “why” and keep it in the forefront of your mind. Cling to it when times get tough.

Admitting you are the problem may be the hardest part.

Your entire life, you have probably been taught that intelligent people seek evidence first, and belief comes after. The thing is, your mindset should not be the effect of your success, but the cause. So for most people, the hardest part of all this is accepting that it’s ok to believe in yourself before you have a logical reason to- before you’ve achieved your goal(s), met your mark, or accomplished anything of note.

The fact is, a human can only process so many thoughts per day — around 6,200 on average, according to psychologists at Queen’s University in Canada. If you consider the idea of positive and negative thoughts as binary, then it stands to reason the more negative thoughts you harbor, the less space you have left for positive ones. You need to stop being so negative.

Eradicate your self-limiting beliefs and replace them with positivity.

The world will be hard on you regardless — please be kind to yourself.

Experiencing fear, anxiety, and doubt is completely normal and part of the human experience. What you don’t need to do, however, is follow that thought train all the way to the end of the tracks.

I’m not asking you to completely avoid negative thoughts.

I’m asking you to repurpose them as motivation.

Dig deep until you understand why you feel the way you feel, and then take constructive steps to reinforce the weakness your fear may expose, instead of feeling it and giving up, or scolding yourself for “not being good enough.”

Latch on to your “why” and never let go.

Greatness is within us all if only we can persevere long enough to see it realized.

Think long and hard about what you were put on this earth to do — and don’t stop until you’ve done just that.
